Clear financial oversight, regular review of income and spending against an approved budget, protects a campaign not just from genuine mismanagement but from the perception of it, which can be just as damaging to a campaign's credibility even when nothing has actually gone wrong. Perception, unfair as that can feel, still shapes public trust.

Even small campaigns benefit from basic financial oversight, such as more than one person reviewing spending decisions, since this kind of simple check protects everyone involved, including whoever is directly responsible for handling the campaign's money day to day. That second pair of eyes protects reputations as much as it protects funds.

A campaign that can show clear, well documented financial oversight is also better placed to respond confidently if its finances are ever publicly questioned, since a well kept record answers most such questions long before they become a genuine problem. Preparation here is quiet work that only becomes visible when it is needed.
