A public campaign space, a public social media post, an open meeting, can be seen by anyone, including people who may not share the campaign's goals, while a private space is limited to a known, trusted group of participants. Confusing the two is a common and genuinely avoidable mistake.

Understanding which kind of space you are in matters before sharing anything personal or sensitive, since information shared in what feels like a private conversation can sometimes be more publicly visible than participants initially realise. A quick check before sharing is always worth that small pause, however minor it feels at the time.

Campaigns that are clear about which of their spaces are genuinely private, and that keep those boundaries consistent, help participants make informed choices about what they are comfortable sharing in each particular setting. That consistency itself becomes a quiet, ongoing form of respect for every participant involved, new or long standing alike.
