How to spot pressure tactics within a group
Launch library · evergreen read

Legitimate campaign groups generally welcome a considered decision about how much time or money someone is able to give, while a group relying on pressure tends to push for immediate commitment and treats hesitation as something to be overcome rather than respected. That impatience is itself worth noticing carefully.
Warning signs include being made to feel guilty for setting a limit, being discouraged from asking questions, or being told that leaving would somehow harm people the campaign claims to represent, all of which are worth taking seriously as genuine cautions. None of these tactics belong in a healthy group.
Trusting your own discomfort in these situations is reasonable, since a group genuinely acting in good faith has little reason to rely on pressure rather than a straightforward, honest case for why your involvement matters. Your own discomfort is data worth listening to carefully, not simply dismissing outright as unfounded nervousness.
