How to assess risk before joining a campaign action

Before joining any campaign action, it helps to ask plainly what could realistically go wrong, how likely that is, and how prepared the organisers seem to be for handling it, rather than assuming an event will simply proceed exactly as described. Plans on paper do not always survive contact with reality.
Reasonable questions include who is coordinating safety on the day, what the plan is if something unexpected happens, and whether there is a clear point of contact for anyone who has a concern once the action is already underway. A confident, specific answer to each is a genuinely good sign.
Assessing risk honestly does not mean assuming the worst, but it does mean making an informed choice rather than an automatic one, weighing your own circumstances and comfort against what the specific action actually involves. That weighing is a personal judgement nobody else can honestly make for you, however well meaning their advice is.
