Campaigns are not equipped to replace professional mental health, financial or legal support, and being clear about that boundary, while still making it easy to find the right service, is a genuinely responsible way to look after volunteers facing serious difficulty of almost any kind, without ever pretending the campaign itself can substitute for that professional help.

Signposting works best when it is specific and easy to act on, a named service, a phone number, a simple description of what kind of help is available, rather than a vague suggestion to seek support that leaves someone to do all the searching entirely alone, at exactly the moment when they have the least energy to do it.

Making this information visible before it is urgently needed, rather than only when a crisis has already arrived, means people know where to turn quickly, at exactly the moment when searching for help themselves can feel hardest to manage well on their own, without any guidance.
